Does Beyonc Give To Charity?

With a net worth of around $500 Million, does Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter, a former member of Destiny’s Child, give to charity? What charitable causes does she support?

Yes. Beyoncé gives to charity. As one of the most successful female musicians in the past decade, her career has spanned over 25 years. Beyoncé is well known for her philanthropy, just as she is known for her music. Beyoncé has received accolades for her generosity.

She has made her contributions to society through her philanthropic causes. Her list of charity works is long and diverse, as you will find out in this article. Keep reading to learn how generous Queen Bee is.

The Beginning

Beyoncé learned to help while growing up in Houston, Texas. Watching her parents involve themselves in community charities inspired her and taught her the importance of giving. According to Beyoncé, “When you look around at all that’s wrong in the world, the need to do something, no matter how big or how small, is clear.”

Beyoncé believed that philanthropy should be done discreetly without the media or other high profile people involved but changed her mind when she saw the difference publicity brought. In her words, “I’ve realized that sometimes it helps a cause more if I talk publicly about it. That’s what increases awareness.”

What Charitable Causes Does Beyoncé Support?

While Beyoncé supports several charitable causes, few are most notable. In 2005, The Survivor Foundation was founded by Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland, to help victims of Hurricane Katrina by providing transitional housing in Houston, Texas. The foundation’s accomplishments are numerous, including the Music World Cares Christmas Carnival that helped over 300 low-income households to enjoy a fun-filled day of food, entertainment, a visit from Santa Claus, and free toys from the toy giveaway. In 2006, Beyoncé also held a series of food drives before her concerts to get food for victims of Hurricane Ike a few years later.

Beyoncé was a Social Ambassador for the 2005 World Children’s Day and released “Stand Up For Love,” an anthem for the event that is held annually around the world on the 2oth of November to raise awareness and funds for children causes.

In 2008, Beyoncé visited Phoenix House, a drug and alcohol treatment center for research purposes for the movie Cadillac Records. She donated her entire salary from the film to the organization. In 2010, Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles opened the Beyoncé cosmetology center in Phoenix House that offers extensive seven-month cosmetology training to women and men recovering from alcohol and drug addictions.

Beyoncé, in 2007 partnered with several anti-hunger foundations including Feeding America, The Houston Food Bank, and The Global Food Banking Network(GFN).

In 2013, Beyoncé also worked with actress Salma Hayek and Frida Giannini on a Gucci campaign Chime For Change, a platform to raise awareness and to empower women and girls through education, health, and justice all over the world through her concerts.

Her humanitarian campaign #BeyGood was formed in 2014 as a charity initiative to help the homeless, sick children, and the unemployed by partnering with local charities and raising awareness and funds through her celebrity status and her fans.

Beyoncé brought awareness to several causes in 2016, including Black Lives Matter, the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and gender equality. Beyoncé’s #BeyGood campaign has achieved many of its goals through the years, and recently in April 2020, BeyGood donated $6 million for mental health causes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We could write a book about Bee’s good deeds. She has a kind heart and has helped a lot of people from various walks of life. She is a force to reckon with both offstage and onstage as a singer and as a philanthropist. In December 2016, Beyoncé was named the Most Charitable Celebrity of the year by DoSomething.org on its annual Celebs Gone Good list. We believe she deserves every crown she gets for her philanthropy. She passed a message to us all in her song: I Was Here. Listen to the lyrics in the video below.
